  1. Facilitate the education and exchange of “common sense” knowledge essential for settlement and integration. 🌍
    1. Build an online Knowledge Bank on topics including (but not limited to) bank accounts, income tax, GP registration, rental accommodation and utility providers. Content is accessible to anyone with an internet connection, and is tailored to individuals unfamiliar with concepts not commonly found in their home countries, e.g. credit scores, NHS Dentists, national insurance, and differences between leasehold & freehold.
    2. Run in-person workshops led by invited Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). E.g. Financial literacy workshops led by UK accountants, and advanced language workshops led by English coaches. Knowledge will also be recorded in the online Knowledge Bank in point 1 a. to amplify the effects of knowledge sharing.
    3. Maintain active Communication Channels e.g. Facebook group, Instagram page, and WhatsApp groups. Managed and moderated by AFGC volunteers to promote constructive Q&A between individuals with knowledge on matters and individuals unfamiliar with a certain topic.
  2. Provide opportunities for isolated individuals to connect with communities through accessible and organised events. 🎉
    1. Free, regular meetups in accessible locations that would allow isolated individuals to easily attend during weekends / after work, in order to connect with other individuals from their culture.
    2. Free, themed meetups that act as a safe space for individuals to discuss difficult topics. E.g. racism, financial difficulties, Honour-based abuse, and language & cultural barriers. Themes are chosen based on the community’s most voted topics after understanding needs through online polls.
    3. Sports sessions for large groups in central locations, which are otherwise difficult to reserve / manage as individuals. Venue spaces are reached out and sessions are coordinated by AFGC volunteers. Subsidies are provided / waived to individuals with financial needs if the space requires a booking fee.
  3. Provide Crisis Support as a Single Point of Access, to individuals who do not have awareness of existing professional support. 🤝
    1. Referencing the NHS Single Point of Access (SPA) model, act as a first point of contact for those in distress. Awareness and guidance of existing professional services are given, when AFGC volunteers are not qualified to provide direct support. E.g. Mental health crisis, experiencing a crime, and medical emergencies.
    2. Provide basic administrative assistance through volunteers, on matters within the capability of AFGC volunteers. E.g. Translation & interpretation of basic documents, in-person interpretation.
